As an Alderman at Large, Dennis has worked tirelessly to make Somerville a safer, cleaner, and more prosperous place to work, live, and raise a family. Along with his colleagues on the Board, Dennis assured that a mixed use development at Assembly Square will happen which will lessen the tax burden of residential property owners.  Dennis worked closely with community activists, and municipal, state and federal officials to make the long awaited Green Line extension through Somerville a reality. Most recently Dennis has begun a dialogue with residents to work with Logan Airport to reduce air pollution and noise.

Preserving open space in our densely populated City is also a priority; Dennis continues to fight for innovative uses of our open land. Children's parks have been refurbished, and  new uses of open land are being planned such as tranquility parks for senior citizens and "off leash" parks for dog owners.

As a former School Committee Chairman, Dennis understands the importance of investing in our youth.  He voted to approve budget funding for Somerville Cares About Prevention and The Somerville Trauma Network, two programs formed to address teen drug use and suicide. In fact, he is the only Alderman who is a volunteer member of the Network.  Dennis has also fought to double the number of summer jobs for youth and for a successful pilot program, Getting Kids Off The Street And Into The Gyms.

These are just a few of the issues that Dennis continues to fight for. If you have a particular issue important to you, let Dennis know. Click here to email him.
